Connie & Marilee, I was so saddened to hear about Smitty's passing. He was a great and faithful friend to grandpa "Fuzzy" and always made me laugh with his many stories. I will never forget the time Smitty gave my brother (7 0r 8 at the time) a pinch of chew, and just roared with laughter when Spike turned green and ran for the bushes!! His sense of humor and great spirit will truly be missed.

My heart goes out to you- Connie & Marilee, Brad & Brent. I will never forget when we were little and Smitty took us to chicago in the truck, or the time he had me eat my first raw oyster. He truly loved your mom, and did enjoy a joke! see you soon, Love Jody

My dad trucked for Smitty for a good many years. Roy "Whiskers" Thommasson. He passed away on the 10th of the month. I know the pain you are feeling. Please know they are proably together telling stories and enjoying the good ole days. Sincerest Condolences Jan Poulson

Thoughts of Jean and Smitty always brings smiles to our faces. We will never forget our trip to Canada fishing with them, or J.D. stopping by to see where to go look for a load of hogs to buy and Jean or Smitty saying to stay and have a bite to eat or visit. So sorry to hear of Smitty's death, but know he is at peace now.

Connie & Marilee, I am so sorry to hear about your dad, Karen sent me a note this morning. I fondly remember the times we went mushroom hunting and your father's wit. One time after we got back and started cooking up the mushrooms he offered me one of the hottest peppers and a shot of moonshine that took my breath away. Haven't really tried either since. I will keep your families in my prayers and know that time is fortunate healer.

Connie & Marlee, and families, In case you don't remember me, I'm your Mom's cousin, Ken and Claudia's son, and brother of Penny, Becky, and David. I am so sorry to learn of your Dad's passing away. Smitty enjoyed our folks very much and they him. I, too, enjoyed visiting your family in that great house in Lamb's Grove. I believe the last time Cherri & I visited Smitty we had a good conversation, reminiscing about the past. He told me some great stories about working up in Alaska and driving his truck to Chicago. He certainly loved your Mom, you girls, and life in general. No doubt He's getting reacquainted with your mom now.

Marilee, Connie and all of Vernonâ€™s extended Family & Friends, I am saddened to hear of the passing of such a fine life from this world that we live in, it still needs guys like him now more than ever. I guess this is just further proof that even mountains can fade away in the face of timeâ€¦â€¦We do however all have a gift, as long as our minds are strong, and that is to be allowed to remember the wonderful way life once was and in doing so perhaps it can go on in our hearts and minds indefinitely. Hereâ€™s to hoping the rest of you all keep â€œSmittyâ€� rollinâ€™ down the road for many many years to come. The mushrooms are coming up in my neck of the woods and the crappie are starting to biteâ€¦â€¦.Oh and Marilee, yes I still remember an evening a very powerful man once spared my young life (stated with a heartfelt smile for he and you both).
