I only knew Lou for a few years from visiting my friend at Nelson Manor. It didn't take long before she was on my list to visit when I came to town. We struck up a wonderful friendship that I will hold close to my heart forever. What a wonderful lady. I will miss you so much Lou. I hope your wish came true.....the one you told me about that you said in your prayers each and every night. I love you and miss you. Rhonda Prine

Whenever you mention the name, Lou Maxfield it immediately brings a smile to faces. That is just who Lou was & will continue to be...a joy. She will be greatly missed & we feel so blessed to have known her. Our loss is Lou's gain because now she is pain free & praising her Lord & Saviour!

I have had the pleasure of knowing Lou for a few years now. Lou's personality will forever be remembered. She was always an inspiration to the younger community. She enjoyed telling experiences and sharing her wisdom. She has played an important role here at Nelson Manor. Her spirit, strength and endurance will be remembered. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Patty and family, at this time. We lost mom August 12, 2007 and know how hard it is to lose your mom. I remember "Aunt Lou" and "Nana" and, in fact, I live in Wilma Cooley's first little house on the corner, kitty-cornered from where you lived in Waverly when we had matching dress at Chrismas! Keep thinking happy thoughts of your mom---she will be with you always!

This very special lady will be missed greatly. She lived a wonderful life and now she is free of pain. I spent the last 2 years as a nurse where Lou lived and I will greatly miss talking to her & seeing her. I loved her very much.

Ahhhhh Lou, or to many Nana. As a child growing up with Pat, you were a strong force in teaching us right from wrong with a loving touch, but a firm voice in letting us (Pat and myself)know when we were in "big" trouble. As adults we became friends and along that road shared a bond of mothers and daughters. I know my mom and I will cherish your smile, your continued loving ways, the strong bond as friends with deep faith knowing there was greatness in all of us. Lou always supported our efforts with yet a guiding hand, filled our hearts with laughter and shared the tears of joy, and grief divided among us. In closing, I will share what has become my motto. To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did. When God takes something/someone from your grasp, he's merely opening your hands to receive something better. The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you. Lou lived life in those words. Today we celebrate you Lou/Nana. Peace be to your memory. I love you. JoLynn

We're so very sorry to hear about the loss of your Mother. She was a neat lady and will be greatly missed. She did so much for our family. I remember when she would help out with the boys when they we're little. Watching them in the mornings before schooh and seeing to it that they got to school on time. We also remember when we moved, all the furniture that she gave to us, and we still have all of it. We have very fond memories of her. We we're truly blest to have known her. We first met Lou about 6 years ago when we learned that Leah and Eric were going to be married..I think we first met at a bridal shower for Leah at Pat and Craigs house.Lou wanted to know all our childrens names and never seemed to forget them..I still remember her at Leah and Erics graduation party she had a smile on her face and was so glad happy to help them celebrate..she was an inspiration to me and we will miss her joyful spirit

Lou has been a special part of the Thies family for a very long time. I can't think of her without remembering her beautiful smile and her unflagging good humor! Her greatest strength, to me, was her ability to always show genuine interest in others. I guess one phrase that I always associate with Lou is, "Now listen, Honey," as that was how she often began our wonderful conversations. I'll miss you, Lou!!

We will always remember Lou's exuberance and love for life and family. Whenever we were around her, Lou would always greet us with a warm hug and a bright smile. She sincerely cared about other people and what was going on in their lives. Finally, Lou was a wonderful "lighthouse" for Jesus Christ. The way she lived her life honored our heavenly savior.
