Obituary of Denise Marie Johnson

Denise M. Johnson Memorial funeral services for Denise M. Johnson of Muscatine, formerly of Newton, will be at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2009 at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton, Iowa. A visitation with the family will be held from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Palo Alto Cemetery near Newton. Denise Marie Johnson, 48, the daughter of Merle and Juanita Geraldine (Evans) Johnson, was born July 25, 1960 in Newton. She was a graduate of the Grinnell, Iowa High School. Denise had devoted her life to her family and friends, and was a member of the Christian Life Center in Newton and Vineyard Fellowship in Muscatine. A lifelong resident of the Newton area, she moved to Muscatine in 2005. Denise was employed as a dietary aid at the Lutheran Home in Muscatine. She enjoyed and loved her family and friends, caring for others, cooking, long walks and her dog, Lucky. Denise died on December 31, 2008 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. Those left to honor Denise's memory include her daughter Katrina Johnson of Muscatine; her son Zachary Johnson also of Muscatine; a brother Ward Warning of Newton; a sister Kathy Bader of Lamoni, Iowa; her special friend Paul Allen Rex of Muscatine; and her many good neighbors and friends.
