Obituary of Larry Dale Edward Clarke

Larry D. "L.D." Clarke Newton Memorial Funeral services for Larry "L.D.", will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 3, 2009 at the Pence~Reese Funeral Home in Newton, who have been entrusted with the arrangements. A visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the services Monday, at the funeral home. In LIEU of flowers: Memorials in L.D.'s name are being designated. Larry Dale Edward Clarke, "L.D.", 55, the son of Marvin A. and Barbara A. (Buzalsky) Clarke, was born September 19, 1953 in Newton, Iowa. He was a graduate of the Newton Senior High, Class of 1971 L.D. was united in marriage with Patrica Ann "Patty" Braaksma on August 20, 1999 in Newton. For the last ten years, L.D. has been employed by Manatt's Inc in Newton, in Quality Assurance. He devoted his life to his family and friends, and enjoyed the out of doors, mushroom hunting, fishing, hunting, camping, baseball, and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan, even on their bad days. L.D. died on Thursday morning, July 30, 2009 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Those left to honor L.D.'s memory include his wife Patty Clarke of Newton; his daughter Randi L. Hamilton of Newton; his two granddaughters: Alyssa and Katelyn; his brother and sister-in-law Dari and Susie Clarke of Newton; his sisters: Bonnie Clarke and Joleen Clarke, also of Newton; a nephew Jason (Karen) Clarke; two nieces: Courtney Clarke and Casey Clarke; one great-niece and a great-nephew; and his many good friends. Calling hours will be Monday from One hour prior to services at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home, 310 N. 2nd Ave. E., Newton, IA. The funeral will be Monday at 1:00 at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home, 310 N. 2nd Ave. E., Newton with Rev. Merle Smith, Chaplain officiating.
