We got to know Duane when he came with Sylvia to several of our family gatherings. He touched our lives in a very special way. We feel fortunate to have known and loved Duane. We now picture him in heaven dancing with all the angels.

Duane was a special soul who loved life, and I am honored to have known him. I will remember him as a leader who was admired by his friends, someone who always wanted to help in any way he could, and someone who deeply cared about his friends and family. My favorite memory is of the radio shows he used to put on every morning over his microphone, especially the commentary he would give when mad at others, or his heart-felt renditions of certain songs. And so many other memories that make me laugh and smile. I will miss you, Nimmo!

One of my favorite memories of Duane was at my wedding when I was asked by him to dance. He is quite the dancer! I enjoyed his enthusiasm and passion! I also remember stopping in Story City, Iowa to say to him at McDonalds.

I remember spending time at the Nimmo home and Duane wanting me to color with him and not to be with his brother, Alan. He gave me a gumball ring, then quickly took it back since I was not near him all of the time. He was a sweet boy, who grew into a nice gentle man. He is a happy angel now.

Brett and I were Deb and Duane's Best Buddies during my time at The Arc and coached him in many different events. I never picked favorites, but we absolutely adored Duane, he had an amazing personality and could always make you laugh. My favorite memory is having a Halloween party for Deb and Duane and wrapping them in toilet paper to make mummies and Duane walking around our apartment trying to scare my roommates. We are really going to miss him.
