Eugene "Bud" E. Kingma
Graveside services for Bud will be {1:30 p.m. - Wednesday, July 8, 2009} at Newton Union Cemetery in Newton, Iowa. With a Memorial Service held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First Lutheran Church in Newton. Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton has been entrusted with the arrangements. In LIEU of flowers: Memorials in Bud's name are being designated; to the Charity of your choice.
Eugene "Bud" E. Kingma, 71, the son of Dutch Kingma and Evelyn Mae (Durr) Kingma, was born July 31, 1937 in Newton. A longtime resident of the Newton area, he graduated from the Newton Senior High, Class of 1955. He went on to attend the University of Iowa in Iowa City for several years. Bud served his country with the US Army from 1960 till 1962. He had traveled the world over, and had lived in Chicago, IL, New York City, NY, San Francisco, CA and Mill Valley, CA, and Murrieta, CA.
He devoted his life to his family and friends, and was of the Lutheran faith. He was employed by Delta Airlines for 30 plus years, retiring as a ticket agent in 1992.
Bud died on Tuesday morning, June 30, 2009 at the Hospital of Riverside in Peris, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Those left to honor Bud's memory include his sisters: Phyllis Kimler of Newton and Colleen McLeod of Escondido, California; his niece Lisa McLeod and nephew James Kimler; a good friend William T. Mendez in California; and his many other good friends.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from Following the Funeral Services at First Lutheran Church, 309 E. 3rd Street N., Newton, IA. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:30 at First Lutheran Church, 309 E. 3rd Street N.,
Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery, Newton on Wednesday at 1:30 pm.
