Obituary of James William White
James William “Jamie” White, 35, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at his home in Runnells, IA.
Jamie was born in Davenport, IA, to Dave White and Lynn (Taylor) Brock on October 28, 1988. He was the fifth of six children and enjoyed a rambunctious household growing up. After graduating from Bettendorf Senior High in 2007, Jamie continued his education at the University of Iowa. At Iowa, Jamie completed his B.A. in Political Science in 2011 and his Juris Doctor in 2014.
After completing his law degree, Jamie started his career at Lane & Waterman in Davenport, IA. He later moved to the Des Moines area and continued his career at BrownWinick Law, where he became a partner in 2022. Jamie thoroughly enjoyed his work as a litigator and was proud to bring his blue-collar background and bulldog attitude to court for his clients.
On June 30, 2018, Jamie united in marriage to Keria Huyser in Runnels, IA. Jamie and Keria welcomed their daughter, Leighton Kristine White, on February 5, 2023.
As a child, Jamie often watched the Chicago Cubs with his Grandma Chris and became a lifelong fan. He enjoyed nearly any sport, but his love of the Cubs was rivaled only by his love of Iowa Wrestling. During wrestling season, Jamie could be found on I-80 driving back and forth to Iowa City to watch the Hawks. He also enjoyed country music concerts, spending time with friends, running, and playing with his dogs, Colby and Joey.
Dedication defined Jamie, whether that dedication was to his work, running, friends, or family. Jamie was always looking for a way to lend a hand and help those around him. He will be remembered for his fun-loving yet direct attitude, love of country music, and thoughtfulness. He will be dearly missed by many.
Jamie is survived by his wife Keria, daughter Leighton, parents Dave White and Lynn Brock, his siblings: Jeanne (Erik) Schleede, Christie (Kelly) Lynch, Brian (Kayla) White, Danny White and Mike (Kelly) White; aunt and uncle: Donna & Randy Holeman; and many extended family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Christine Taylor and Ralph and Jean White.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 13, 2023, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton (310 N 2nd Ave E, Newton, IA 50208).
