While I never had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Gran, I am so pleased that her three sons came into my life through Iowa State University. Jim, Bill and Dave, lived with my brothers at Alumni Hall. The Hall was really a special place where lifetime friendships were nurtured. The Gran brothers remained friends with all of the Nilles family over the years. I only wish we could all see each other more often. To each of you, Jim, Bill and Dave, I am so sorry for your loss. She must have been a grand woman to raise such a wonderful family. -- With sympathy, Lori (Nilles) Berglund
My condolences to Nancy’s family. I enjoyed her stories while I cleaned her home in Sioux City. She loved her family so much. I’m sure she is with the Lord in Heaven free from pain now. May the God of all comfort give you peace during this time of grieving.
I knew and loved Nancy and Jim when they lived in Maquoketa. It broke all of our hearts when they moved away, and now this. My deepest sympathy to those three rascally boys who grew up so well and made their mother proud. Love and hugs to all!!
Mary Stewart Hayward, Maquoketa
