Obituary of Thomas Franklin Scarbrough

Thomas Franklin Scarbrough, 73, the son of Thomas F. and Ina Pearl (Herberger) Scarbrough, was born April 22, 1947, in Newton, Iowa. Tom was self-employed, doing lawn care and snow removal, and a hired hand for area farmers. He devoted his life to his family and friends and attended the Four-Square Church in Newton. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, antiques, and thrift store shopping.

Tom passed away on Wednesday evening, March 24, 2021, in Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents. Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, has been entrusted with the arrangements. Memorials are being designated to Tom's family.

Those left to honor Tom's memory include his wife Joan Tucker; his daughter Melissa (Jeremy) Helms; his two grandchildren, Tyler and Billy Helms; his brother Jeff (Tena) Scarbrough; and his many good neighbors and friends.

A time of remembrance and celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 10, at the Four-Square Church in Newton. {Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, facemasks are encouraged.}
