Obituary of Mark Edwin Sigurdson

Mark E. Sigurdson

Mark passed away on Thursday morning, May 30, 2019, at his home where he resided in Grinnell, IA with his daughter and son-in-law. A time of remembrance and celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at the American Legion in Newton, IA from 4 PM – 8 PM. The Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Mark's family or to a charity of your choosing.

Mark Edwin Sigurdson, 64, the son of Morris K. and Clarice A. (Nordholm) Sigurdson, was born January 2, 1955, in Fort Dodge, IA. He was a graduate of the Newton Senior High, Class of 1973, and later attended the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. He lived in the Kansas City area for 35 years and was an auto-dealership Finance Manager. Mark enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, watching KU basketball, woodworking, boating and camping.

Mark is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Megan and Doug DeJong of Grinnell; his grandchildren: Darynne, Jeffrey (Bailey) and Abby; his mother Clarice Sigurdson of Newton; a sister Julie (Gene) Suhr of Rensselaer, Indiana; two nieces; and his many good neighbors and friends.

"Mark will always be remembered for his zest of life and his outgoing personality”. 

He was preceded in death by his father Morris.
