Obituary of Leola Collette Benac

   Funeral services for Leola C. Benac, 88, of Newton will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018, 1:00 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Newton.   A visitation with the family will beheld on Thursday, November 29, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton.  Memorials are being desinated to Mercy Hospice and Our Savior Lutheran Church.

   Leola Collette Benac, the daughter of James and Fern Kingery was born April 16, 1930, in rural Monroe, Iowa.  She attended country school until moving to Newton where she attended Newton Community Schools.  Leola was united in marriage to Vincent Benac on March 19, 1948, in Newton.  They owned and operated Newton Plate Glass and Mirror Co. from 1963 until 1980.  Leola continued working for Skiff Hospital and then for Creative Collection and Klassy Kids in downtown Newton..

   Leola was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church.  She loved spending time with family, knitting, doing crafts, shopping, eating out, and playing pitch and board games with friends.

   Leola died on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at Skiff Medical Center while surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her father in 1979, mother in 2008, husband in 2003, brother Carroll Kingery in 2015, son-in-law Chuck Braaksma in 2004 and a sister in infancy.

   Those left to honor her memory include her son Wayne (Linda) Benac of Cumming, GA, her daughters Anna Braaksma of Newton, Carolyn (Donald) Little of Newton, Teresa (Les) Morgan of Newton, 12 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild due in January 2019.
