Obituary of Glen Eugene Peil

Please share a memory of Glen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Glen Eugene Peil went home to be with his Savior on April 4, 2018. Glen was born on February 14, 1934 in Emerald, Nebraska to Jacob and Edith (Ackerman) Peil. He graduated from Blue Hill High School in 1952, served two years in the Army stationed at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs and thereafter married Barbara Stewart on November 27, 1959. They were married for 57 years and had two daughters Shelly (Joe) Isabelli and Rebecca (Joe) DeHart, six grandchildren Lisa (Bruce) Dell, Kyle (Maria) Isabelli, David and Paul DeHart, and Ryan and Reese Rosenquist, four great grandchildren Nora and Max Isabelli and Abby and (soon to arrive) Jack Dell. He is also survived by brothers Wayne (Diane) Peil, Ken (Audrey) Peil and sister-in-law Wilma Peil. Glen was an electrician by profession and a faithful servant of the Lord. Over the course of his life he served over 50 years in numerous church nurseries holding thousands of babies during church services, Sunday schools, AWANAS and vacation bible schools. Papa Glen loved children and they loved him back. He also served in many other areas of the church, but the nursery was his delight. He taught us to let God handle our lives and money and then we wouldn't have to worry about anything. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Bruce Peil, Mary Stanfill, Neil Peil, Larry Peil, Fred Peil, and Sara Kurdziel and a beloved great granddaughter Zoey Dell. As per his wishes he was cremated and his ashes will be spread with his wife Barbara's ashes later this year. Pence-Reese is handling the arrangements. Memorials can be made to the Comfort House in Pella where Dad was lovingly cared for the last two days of his life. In lieu of a funeral please send cards of happy memories to 106 Sunset Drive in Otley, IA 50214 where Glen lived with his daughter Becky and son-in-law Joe.
