Obituary of Kenneth Wayne "Kenny" Kirk

Funeral services for Kenneth Wayne Kirk will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at the Cornerstone Bible Fellowship in Newton, Iowa. A visitation with the family will be held Friday evening, May 28, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton who have been entrusted with the arrangements. As an expression of sympathy, memorials may be made in Kenneth's name.
Kenneth Wayne Kirk, son of Wayne and Anna Mary (Bush) Kirk of Spickard, Missouri, was born on August 16, 1930. He attended the Spickard schools, and after moving to the Newton area, drove a semi for K Line Trucks, and worked at the Deep Rock Service Station. He served his country in the Iowa National Guard, and later as a tank commander during the post-Korean War Conflict. He completed his aviation airframe and power plant maintenance certification and was employed by Johnson Aviation, Inc. of Newton for more than 30 years.
Kenny was united in marriage to Donna Francis Cavitt in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on November 29, 1952. He devoted his life to family and friends, was a private pilot, enjoyed air shows and all things related to aviation, racing cars, traveling and camping.
Kenny died on Monday, May 25, 2010, at his home in Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Donna, in 1989 and brothers, Robert Kirk and Clifford Kirk.
Those left to honor his memory include a daughter, Karla Kay (Paul) McIlrath of Des Moines, Keven Wayne (Renee) Kirk of Marshalltown, Kenneth William Kirk of Newton, and Kenton Willis "Willie" Kirk of Marshalltown, and seven grandchildren: Philip P.(Jessica) McIlrath, Leah D. McIlrath, Kyle W. Kirk, Vanessa L. Kirk, Nickolus W. Kirk, Allie R. Kirk, Kenton W. Kirk, Jr. He is also survived by his cousin, Nellie Davis of Newton. He will be missed by his little buddy, Winker the poodle, as well.
