Helen and Don were second grandparents to me as lifetime best friends to my grandmother, Mary Martin. For a long period they were loyal travel buddies as well. I remember them always laughing together, enjoying cocktails and listening to Glen Miller. I felt lucky to witness a bond like theirs that endured through all of life's ups and downs. Helen added such spunk and fun to every occasion. She will be so missed, but I smile to think she and Don are playing tennis together in heaven now. Sending my kindest regards and condolences.

Helen and I were in TTT together, a bridge club and a couples bridge club. Don and Helen were great people and two of our favorite Newtonians. Newton will surely miss them. We have some good memories of the Bartons!!!

We were so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. I was a friend of Sondi's and spent time around your Mom & Dad, they were both great people. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.

I will so miss Helen at our PEO meetings. I remember the last time she was at my house and serving on a committee. I will always be grateful for her service to the Newton Community School District.

We have good memories of Helen and Don over the past thirty years, Helen for her work on the school board, Don for his timely Diamond Ice business,, and both of them for being such great neighbors ever since we build our home on land they owned. We will miss seeing her "playing in her garden," and seeing them walking down S. 20th Avenue W., picking up trash as they moved at a fast pace - Helen was always some 10 to 20 yards behind. Good folks are hard to replace.
