Obituary of Helen M. Horn

Helen M. Horn, 76, passed away Monday afternoon, April 28, 2014, at Heritage Manor in Newton Funeral services for Helen will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 2, 2014, at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Pastor Gary Marzolf of the First United Methodist Church in Newton, conducting the services. A visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the services on Friday. In lieu of flowers memorials are being designated in Helen’s name. Burial will be in the Belle Fountain Cemetery near Tracy. Helen, the daughter of Lloyd William and Hazel Elizabeth (Hagen) Horn, was born October 20, 1937, at Skiff Hospital in Newton. A lifelong resident of the Newton area, Helen enjoyed working at Progress Industries in Newton, her times at Willowbrook Adult Day Services, shopping and getting her nails done, going out to eat and participating in Special Olympics. Helen was preceded in death by her parents. Those left to honor Helen’s memory include her sister and brother-in-law, Kathryn Ann and Kenneth Laver of Newton; her nieces and nephew, Lori Cass, Lynn (Bill) Badger and Tony Laver; her great-niece and great-nephews; and her aunts, uncles and cousins. Helen will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
