Obituary of Mildred E. Hennon

Funeral services for Mildred will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 14, 2014, at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Visitation with the family one hour prior to the services, with a coffee time to follow the committal services. Burial will be in the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be left in her name.
Mildred E. Hennon, 100, the daughter of Henry and Lilla (Hempy) Hackney, was born February 16, 1913, north of Newton. She attended rural Jasper County schools.
On April 23, 1932, Mildred was united in marriage to Melvin A. Hennon in Unionville, Missouri. She had lived in Jasper County, Ankeny, Dearborn, Michigan and later Lambs Grove in 1960's, and had wintered in Florida for twenty plus years. In 1956, she helped build the Mel-Ray Mobile Home Park in Ankeny. Mildred devoted her life to her family and friends, and was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Newton, Center Friends Missionary Society and past 4-H Clubs.
Mildred entered into the gates of Glory on February 7, 2014, at Heritage Manor in Newton. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Melvin on June 9, 1990 daughters: Greta Ann in infancy and Sonja J. Goodman on Feb. 16, 2007; her son Mannie R. Hennon on November 10, 2013; four brothers: Clyde, Rex, Wilbur and Archie Hackney; and her sisters: Imogene Barker, Ula Baugher, Marie Dufey and Lois Owens.
Those left to honor the memory of Mildred include her daughter Phyllis D. (Brad) Beals of Lake Oswego, OR; daughter-in-law Pat Hennon of Newton; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren.
