Graveside funeral services for Lois, will be 10:30 a.m.; Friday, May 1;-at the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe, Iowa. Visitation will be for one hour at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, (9:30 until 10:15 a.m.), prior to the graveside services in Monroe.
Lois Sparks, 102, the daughter of John H. and Martha C. (Fouch) Sellers, was born July 19, 1906 in Marion County, Iowa. A lifelong resident of Jasper County, she was a graduate of the Monroe High School, Class of 1925.
On January 3, 1927, Lois was united in marriage with Harold C. Sparks in Marshalltown, Iowa. They would live in the Monroe, Sully and Reasnor areas, prior to moving to Newton in 1981. Lois was employed in the Deli at Family Food (Stockton's and Easters). She had devoted her life to Harold, and her family, and enjoyed crafts and reading. She was a member of the Monroe First Baptist Church
Lois passed away on Monday evening, April 27, 2009, at Nelson Manor in Newton. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold in 1970; her son Harold Jr.; a grandson Steven Woody; her sisters: Alberta Meyers and Wilma Stigge; and her brothers: George and John Sellers.
Those left to honor Lois' memory include her daughters: Colleen (Fred) Wiklund of Newton and Carolyn (Jon) Woody of Newton; her eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and sixteen great-great grandchildren; a sister Helen Ridgeway of Norwalk, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; and her many good neighbors and friends.
In LIEU of flowers: Memorials in Lois' name are being designated to: Monroe First Baptist Church; Iowa Hospice or to the Charity of your choice.
