As Kevin's sister and sister-in-law to Kim, Rilla was a great mom, not just to her own children, but to all of us who are part of her extended family by marriage. She loved us all, and gave everything she had with that huge, caring heart of hers. She was always happy, and always had a smile. She has touched the lives of so many people. A special place awaits angels like her. She will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with Kim, Mitch and John and their families.

I worked with Rilla at Careage of Newton, she was the most compasionate, kind, caring, genuine person I had met! She taught me so much about working with the elderly. Her personality and warmth was one motivation which led me to take course in Human Services! I remember Rilla speaking often of her son. Her love for him was very evident and shown brightly in her eyes and words! Rilla will be greatly missed - May God be with you as you celebrate her life and mourn your loss.

My name is Karen McDaniel and I work for a group of radiation oncologists who took care of Rilla. I got to see her every day when she came in for treatment and there were very few days when she did not come in with a smile. I always teased her and called her "Rilla from Aurelia" knowing that wasn't where she was from but it sounded good. I still remember her good cookies she baked and brought in to use for a thank you gift. It was us who should have given her a gift for her bright smile and fun loving ways. We will miss her and our sympathies go out to her family for the loss of a great lady. Our prayers are with you. The Staff at Mercy Therapeutic Radiology in Des Moines.

Rilla was a dear friend, a neighbor and a classmate at KHS. She always was fun, cheerful, upbeat and loyal. She was courageous in her illness and brave as she faced death. Her faith and her family meant everything to her. We will miss her in our girlfriends' luncheon group but her memory will live on in our hearts. Thanks be to God for Rilla Vae.

My mom (Helen Hall) and I bowled with Rilla many years ago. Rilla was fun to be around, and always very thoughtful to everyone she knew. I lost my mom last April and now Rilla is in heaven with mom, enjoying each other's company. My thoughts and prayers are with your family during this trying time.
