Obituary of Lillian A. Munger

Lillian A. Munger, 88, of Newton, was born February 13, 1920 in Monroe, Iowa, the daughter of Andrew Hans and Corneila (Kooyman) Gertsma. A lifelong resident of Jasper County, Iowa, she graduated from the Monroe Senior High, Class of 1937. On August 31, 1938, Lillian was united in marriage to Carroll Raymond Munger in Prairie City, Iowa. She had devoted her life to her family, and was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Newton, Ladies Missionary Group and Senior Saints Group. She always enjoyed her daily walks around the block in Newton. Lillian died on Saturday afternoon, December 13, 2008 in the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Carroll on January 23, 1982. Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements. Funeral services for Lillian will be 11:30 a.m.; Friday, December 19, 2008 at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Newton. Visitation with the family will be 10:00 a.m. Friday until service time, at the Immanuel Baptist Church. Those left to honor Lillian's memory include her son, Bob (Martha) Munger of Ankeny, Iowa; her daughters: Carole Jean Munger of Lakeland, Florida, Sarah Munger (Fred Lunde) of Tuscon, Arizona, Sally (Nick) Salyer of Tuscon, Mary Garcia of Tuscon and Lisa (Reggie) Collette of Des Moines, Iowa; her ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and her made good neighbors and friends. Memorials in Lillian's name are being designated to (Lillian Munger Memorial Fund) or Immanuel Baptist Church in Newton.
