Obituary of Charles Dewayne Braaksma

Charles D. Braaksma Newton, IA Charles Dewayne Braaksma, 54, of rural Kellogg, Iowa, the son of Lewis John and Edna (Webster) Braaksma, was born on May 3, 1954 in Newton, Iowa. A lifelong resident of the Newton area, he attended the Newton Schools. On December 31, 1992, Charles was united in marriage with Anna M. Benac in Newton. He devoted his life to his wife, family and friends. He was self employed as a welder, and did some work for Brooker's. Charles enjoyed and loved his grandchildren, fishing and the outdoors. Charles died on Wednesday evening, November 26, 2008 in the Monarch Wing of Skiff Medical Center in Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services for Charles will be at a later date. The Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton has been entrusted with the arrangements. Those left to honor Charles' memory include his wife, Anna; his sons: Jeffrey D. Braaksma, Justin C. Braaksma, Joshua Schippers and Justin Schippers, all of Newton; his daughters: Sara Schippers of Des Moines, Iowa and Gina Castillo of Newton; his twelve grandchildren; a good friend Charlie Taylor; his brother and three sisters; several aunts and uncles; and his good neighbors and friends at Brooker's. Memorials in Charles' name are being designated, and may be left at the funeral home.
