Obituary of Maxine Burris

Tura Maxine "Mickey" Burris, the daughter of Rolla Sylvester and Rachel Bessie Eubank Pierce, was born November 16, 1920 in Rock Island, Illinois. She attended Highland Park High School in Michigan.
Mickey moved to Newton in 1973. She worked as a Nurses Aid for many years and was a longtime member of the Church of God in Newton.
Mickey died on Saturday, August 23, 2008, at Nelson Manor in Newton, Iowa. She was 87 years old. Mickey was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Betty Freeman.
Those left to honor Mickey's memory include her son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Joy Burris of La Mirada, California; her grandson, Daniel Joseph; her great grandchildren, Calvin and Rebecca; her brother, William Pierce of Chelsea, Michigan; and her many nieces, nephews and cousins.
