Wilbur F. Versteeg, age 86, of Newton died Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at Skiff Medical Center, Newton.
Mr. Versteeg was born December 25, 1920 at Galesburg, IA the son of the late William and the late Ruby (Schnug) Versteeg. He married Martha AnnBachman May 19, 1945 at Reno, Nevada.
He served in the Marine Corps from 1942 to 1946 during World War II .
He retired from Maytag Company as a Machine Operator in 1978.
Mr. Versteeg was a member of V.F.W. #1655; US Marine Corp 1942-1946
He is survived by his wife: Martha Ann(Bachman) Versteeg, one daughter: Debra McClurkin of Greensboro, NC and one son: Gary VerSteeg of Nairobi, Kenya, AFRICA
Predeceased by his Son, Ronald Ver Steeg, Grandson, Eric
Calling hours will be Monday from prior to services at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home, 310 N. 2nd Ave. E., Newton, IA. The funeral will be Monday at 10:00 at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home, 310 N. 2nd Ave. E., Newton with Jeremiah Smart officiating.
Burial will be in Merle Hay Crematory, Des Moines on Monday at 10:00 am.
