Obituary of Leon Henry Welp

Leon Henry Welp, age 80, of Newton died Friday, June 15, 2007 at USA Healthcare, Newton. Mr. Welp was born September 7, 1926 at Haverhill, IA the son of the late Edward O. and the late Teresa P. (Kopel) Welp. He married Gloria H.Schnathorst April 12, 1958 at Des Moines, Iowa. He served in the Army from 1944 to 1946 during World War II . He retired from Welp Lumber as a Owner/operator in 1987. Mr. Welp was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church; Knights of Columbus; Catholic Order of Foresters; Marshalltown American Legion He is survived by his wife: Gloria H.(Schnathorst) Welp, one daughter: Jolene Welp of Ames, IA and one son: Randal & Sang Sun Welp of Springfield, VA Brother of two sisters: Doris & Cletus Neuroth of Marshalltown, IA, Audry & Roman Dankbar of Ames, IA and one brother: Cyril & Aloah Welp of Marshalltown, IA Mother-in-law, Mary Schnathorst of Des Moines, IA; Sister-in-law, Julie & J.O. Hoggard of Rogers, AK; Sister-in-law, Janet Heckart of Des Moines, IA Predeceased by his Daughter, Cheryl Lynn Welp, Brother, Virgil Welp, Sister-in-law, Lorraine Welp Calling hours will be Tuesday from Visitation with the family will be at 7pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1115 S. 8th Avenue E., Newton, IA. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1115 S. 8th Avenue E., Newton where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by Rev. Ernest Braida. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Haverhill on Wednesday at 11:00 am. Memorials may be made to Willowbrook Adult Day Care
