Richard Hugh Whannel, age 77, of 200 S. 8th Ave. E., Newton died Saturday, July 21, 2007 at Skiff Medical Center, Newton.
Mr. Whannel was born November 17, 1929 at Traer, IA the son of the late Tom Garfield and the late Edna (Cusbertson) Whannel.
He served in the Army from 1948 to 1948 during Peace Time war .
He was employed by Maytag Company as a General Laborer.
He is survived by two sons: Richard Kelly Whannel of Newton, IA, Branden Paul Whannel of Pawnee, OK
Friend, Paul R. Berry of Newton, IA
Predeceased by his Brother, John Whannel, Sister, Bessie
. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:00 at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home, 310 N. 2nd Ave. E., Newton with Rev. Gary Marzolf officiating.
Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery, Grinnell on Thursday at 10:30 am.
