William Anthony Mattingly, age 79, of 1100 S. 13th Ave. W., Newton died Thursday, November 22, 2007 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines.
Mr. Mattingly was born June 13, 1928 at Ironton, MO the son of the late George E. and the late Irene E. (Marshall) Mattingly. He married Joan P.Pollock August 30, 1949 at Arcadia, Missouri.
He served in the Army from 1946 to 1948 during Peace Time war .
He was employed by Mattingly Books/Music as a Teacher.
Mr. Mattingly was a member of Newton Community Theatre Orchestra; Newton V.F.W. #1655; Knights of Columbus; Sacred Heart Catholic Church
He is survived by his wife: Joan P.(Pollock) Mattingly, one daughter: Barbara Mattingly of Saint Augustine, FL and five sons: George & Lucy Mattingly of Berkeley, CA, Paul & Kelley Mattingly of Newton, IA, David & Cathy Mattingly of Walnut Creek, CA, John & Elaine Mattingly of Newton, IA, Joseph & Normalinda Mattingly of Coralville, IA
Brother of three sisters: Mary Knoll of St. Louis, MO, Mary Irene Walker of Albuquerque, NM, Jane Cataldo of Bethlehem, PA
Predeceased by his Brother, George Mattingly, Brother, Tom Mattingly, Sister, Florence, Sister, Elizabeth
Calling hours will be Thursday from Visitation with the family will be from 6 - 8:30pm at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home, 310 N. 2nd Ave. E., Newton, IA. The funeral will be Friday at 11:00 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1115 S. 8th Avenue E., Newton where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by Rev. Ernest Braida.
Burial will be in Merle Hay Crematory, Des Moines on Saturday at 9:00 am.
