Obituary of Marlys Ann Moore

Marlys Ann Moore, the daughter of Gerald and Laura H. Harr, was born December 15, 1925 in George, Iowa, one of nine children. She was a graduate of the Monroe, Iowa Senior High, Class of 1944, where she enjoyed playing basketball. On June 15 1947, Marlys was united in marriage with Francis R. Moore at the home of her brother Jerry in Davenport, Iowa. To this union was born three children Marsha, Mary Ann and Mark. Marlys was employed in area Newton retail stores, with over twenty years for Younkers. She devoted her life to her husband and family, enjoying family get-togethers, camping, ice cream socials, garage and estate sales and getting her hair done. She was a member of the Women of the Moose. Marlys went to be with her Lord on Monday morning, January 21, 2008 in the Monarch Wing of Skiff Medical Center in Newton, with Francis at her side. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Folvia; and three brothers Dale, Jerry and Tom. Those left to honor Marlys' memory include her husband, Francis of Newton; daughters: Marsha K. (Marvin) Moskwa of Kent, Washington and Mary Ann (Henry) Allspach of Melrose, Iowa; son, Mark Allen (Sherry) Moore of Kent, Washington; her four grandsons: Craig, Mike, Jeremy and Chris; three great-grandsons: Michael, Tyler and Kaysen; one great-granddaughter Hailey Jo; three sisters: Betty Dray of Davenport, Iowa, Lil Sellers of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Patty Duncalf of Taylor Ridge, Illinois; a brother Jim Botsford of Zeeland, Michigan; and her many good neighbors and friends.
