Obituary of Laverne Albert Cox

Laverne A. Cox, 72, the son of Lewis G. and Ethel (Risbeck) Cox, was born April 11, 1935 in Russell, Iowa. He attended the Russell area schools. In 1956, Laverne served he country with the United States Air Force. He was employed as a farm hand. Laverne had lived in the Lucas and Wayne County areas, prior to moving to Newton. He enjoyed his family and friends, and attended the Assembly of God Church Laverne died on Sunday evening, January 27, 2008 at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa. Those left to honor the memory of Laverne include his brothers: William (Nancy) Cox of Cleveland, Minnesota, David Cox of Reamer, Minnesota, Dale (Joy) Cox of Fort Worth, Texas and Larry Cox of Los Angeles, California; his sisters: Beverly (Kenneth) Gibson of Winterset, Iowa, Lorraine (James) Cheatham of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Donna (Bob) Price of Franklin, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews; and his many neighbor and friends. Laverne was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Gene Cox and Darrell Cox; his sister Darlene; and a nephew Lennart.
