Helen L. Hall Newton Funeral services for Helen L. Hall, 77, of Newton, Iowa, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2008, at First United Methodist Church of Newton. Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements. A visitation with the family will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 Thursday, May 1, at the First United Methodist Church. Memorials are being designated in Helens name and may be left at the Funeral Home or church. Helen L. Hall, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Haynes) Meyer, was born April 5, 1931 in Grinnell, Iowa. She was a member of the Grinnell Senior High School, Class of 1948. Helen was a homemaker and was employed for 30 years by the Hy-Vee Food Store as a bookkeeper, retiring in 1990. On November 15, 1946, Helen was united in marriage with Rex L. Hall in Grinnell. She had devoted her life to her husband and family, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Women of the Moose. Helen enjoyed spending time with her family and church family, bowling, sewing, reading, playing the organ and church work. Helen died on Tuesday evening, April 29, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her four brothers and two sisters. Those left to honor Helens memory include her husband Rex of Newton; her daughters: Barbara (Richard) Bollinger of Iowa City, Iowa and Connie (Joe) Ayers of Kearney, Missouri; her granddaughters: Jodi (Matt) Cross of Ankeny, Iowa and Amy Jo Ayers of Kearney; her sisters: Beatrice Ingraham of Marshalltown, Iowa and Maxine Crossett of Hampton, Virginia; several nieces and nephews; and her many good neighbors and friends.
