Obituary of John T. McMaster

John T. McMaster Newton Funeral services for John T. McMaster will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Colfax, Iowa. Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home of Newton has been entrusted with the arrangements. A time of Fellowship and visitation with the family will follow the funeral at the church. Memorials are being designated in Johns name and may be left at the Funeral Home or church. John T. McMaster, 82, the son of Ruben and Cora Jane (Richmond) McMaster, was born May 29, 1925 in Newton, Iowa. John remained a lifelong resident of Jasper County, graduating from the Newton Senior High School with the Class of 1943. On August 31, 1946, John was united in marriage with Wanda Lewis. John had devoted his life to his family, and was the owner and operator of the Deep Rock Service Station in Newton. He also was employed by Tonys Auto Parts, was a realtor, and later a night auditor for the Holiday Inn. He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, enjoyed tinkering with cars, camping, and all animals and watching wildlife. John died Thursday morning, May 8, 2008 in the Monarch Wing of Skiff Medical Center in Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Wanda and two brothers: Perry and Robert. Those left to honor the memory of John include his son Tim (Cathy) McMaster of Newton, Iowa; daughters: Marilyn (Raymond) Anderson of Newton and Ruby (Ron) Timmons of Monroe, Iowa; his nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; a sister Katherine Kennedy of Newton; his brother Joe McMaster of Arizona; and many special friends and neighbors.
