Obituary of Barbara Elaine MacCarthy

Barbara MacCarthy Newark, OH Barbara E. MacCarthy, the daughter of George Joseph and Dorothy Elise Smith Quinn, was born April 10, 1939, in Pampa, TX. Barbara was united in marriage with Ned John MacCarthy on October 3, 1959, in Madison, NJ. Barb and Ned and their family moved many times throughout Neds career with the US Air Force. Barbara had worked for Sears in retail sales. Barbara, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, loved spending time with her family. Her interests included reading, cooking and traveling. She was a member of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Granville, OH. Barbara died on Friday, May 16, 2008, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton, IA. She was 69 years old. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents. Those left to honor Barbaras memory include her husband of 48 years, Ned MacCarthy of Newark, OH; her son, Kevin (Wendy) MacCarthy of Robbinsville, NJ; her daughters, Laura (Charles) McFall of Collierville, TN and Cathleen (David) DeCook of Newton, IA; her eight grandchildren, Kelly, Emily, Megan, Michael, Ryan, Thomas, Benton, Kelsea; her sisters, Jeanne (Edward) Tiscornia of Hilton Head Island, SC and Deborah (Frank) Nekic of St. Joseph, MI. Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 26th at St. Edward in Granville, OH. Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home & Cremation Services are handling local arrangements.
