Funeral services for Dorothy D. Miller of Newton, will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton. A visitation with the family will be held from 1:00 p.m. till service time on Saturday, at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home.
Dorothy D. Miller, 86, daughter of William Joseph and Dora Ann (Bills) Henderson, was born April 23, 1922 in Centerville, Iowa. She was a graduate of the Centerville Senior High School, Class of 1940.
On June 29, 1940, Dorothy was united in marriage with Edward Murray Miller in Centerville, Iowa. They moved to Newton, Iowa area in 1950. She had devoted her life to her husband and family, and was a very active member of the First Christian Church in Newton; a past member of the Lady Elks, Women of the Moose and Skiff Hospital Auxiliary. Dorothy was employed in the office at Skiff Medical Center in Newton, and for twenty-five years in the office of Dr. Frank and Dorothy Forsythe, retiring in 1985. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Dorothy died on Monday morning, May 26, 2008 at the USA Health Care in Newton, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Murray; a daughter Joyce White; and her two sisters.
Those left to honor Dorothy's memory include her daughter: Judy (Ron) Ringgenberg of Oskaloosa, Iowa; her son Jim Miller of Scottsdale, Arizona; her son-in-law Dave White of Newton, Iowa; her four grandchildren and three step-grandchildren; her six great-grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren; a good friend Dick Roberts of Newton; and her many other good neighbors and friends.
Memorials in Dorothy's name are being designated to the First Christian Church in Newton.
