Funeral services for Larry R. Phipps, 45, of Newton, Iowa, will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2008, at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton with burial at Rock Creek Cemetery.
A visitation with the family will be held at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time at 10 am. Memorials are being designated in Larrys name and may be left at the funeral home.
Larry Ray Phipps, the son of James R. Phipps and Marlene R. Mickelson was born December 18, 1962 in Grinnell, Iowa. Larry was a graduate of Urbandale High School and completed 2 years of Diesel Engineering at DMACC Ankeny Campus. He moved to Provo, Utah and later to Logan, Utah and worked in cheese manufacturing. Upon returning to Newton, he worked at the Maytag Cheese Plant. Larry was currently working for Swift Co. in Marshalltown. Larry enjoyed fishing, cooking, watching movies and the Miami Dolphins Football Team.
Larry passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents and his brother Phillip Alan Northcutt in August 2005.
Those left to honor his memory include father James R. Phipps of Newton, mother Marlene R. Mickelson of Salt Lake City, Utah, Connie Kitchen, mother of Larrys children, sons Glen D. Phipps, Shaun J. Phipps and Rick G. Phipps and daughter Ruthanne Rae Phipps all of Richfield, Utah, brothers Todd A. Northcutt of Salt Lake City, Charles R. (Daphne) Owens of Colfax, Justin Phipps of Grinnell, sisters Tonya R. (Jim) Perkins of Provo, Utah, Teresa (Larry) Dhondt of Kellogg, many nieces and nephews and several aunts and uncles.
