Obituary of Theola Marie Groves

Theola Marie Groves, 87, the daughter of Alex O. and Emma (Dumont) Schmid, was born January 29, 1921 in rural Richland, Iowa. She attended rural Sigourney, Iowa schools, and a Catholic high school in Harper, Iowa. A resident of the Newton, Iowa area since 1948, she was employed by Skiff Medical Center in Newton for 10 years and later part-time by the YMCA. On June 19, 1948, Theola was united in marriage with Earl Groves in Sigourney. She had devoted her life to her husband, children and family, and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Society in Newton. She enjoyed spending time with her family, was a seamstress and an active member of the USA Health Care Community. Theola died on Thursday afternoon, July 10, 2008 at USA Health Care. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Earl on March 13, 1973, and her son-in-law Richard Moredock. Those left to honor Theola's memory include her daughter Cheryl Moredock of Newton; her son Leland (Sarah) Groves of Newton; her four grandchildren: Theresa (Danny) Hodge, Ryan Moredock, Aaron (Tricia) Groves and Christie Groves; three great-grandchildren: Brandie, Eric and Tiffany Hodge; her sisters: Dorothy Fry and Marjorie Deimerly; several nieces and nephews; and her many good neighbors and friends.
