Obituary of Marjorie Fay Wadsworth

Marjorie Fay Wadsworth, 87, of Newton, passed away Monday morning, July 8, 2013, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
Marjorie, the daughter of Estes and Sadie Marie (Harris) Meyer, was born November 15, 1925, on the farm in rural Newton. She graduated from the Newton Senior High, and attended AIB in Des Moines, DMACC and later Drake University.
On July 5, 1945, Marjorie was united in marriage with Perry D. Wadsworth in Newton. She was employed by the US Postal Service as a mail handler, retiring after 33 years, a supervisor in Des Moines. She committed her life to Christ, her family and friends, and was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ. She was involved as a Sunday school teacher, Hospice voluntary and Coast Guard Auxiliary. Marjorie will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Those left to honor Marjorie's memory include her son and daughter-in-law, Steven P. and Rita Wadsworth of Newton; her nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; her sister Dorothy (Leo) Lickey of Newton; and a brother Norman Meyer also of Newton.
Visitation with the family will be 1 p.m., Monday, July 15, 2013, at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, with Graveside services to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Newton Union Cemetery, Veteran's Section. Memorials are being designated in Marjorie's name.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Perry on June 26, 1983; a daughter Susan Hagen; her brothers: Carroll, Robert, Melvin, Gerald and Dennis Dean; and her sisters: Lucille Retinghouse, Berdine Johnson and her twin sister Madge Spieker.
