Over the past few years, John conquered a case of lymphoma, survived the death of his wife, and retired early last year to enjoy life. He had committed his life to his wife, family and friends, and was a member of the Baxter American Legion. He was loved by everybody who knew him for his unique sense of humor, admired for his broad range of knowledge, and respected for his ethics. John died Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center in Tualatin, Oregon, while on a coast-to-coast ride across the United States on his Harley Davidson.
