Dear Janet and family, Kathy Stevens called me last night and told me that your Mom had passed away. I wanted to let you know how sorry I am, it is always so hard to lose a parent, no matter what age or circumstances. This picture of your Mom is so good, that big smile on her face is exactly how I remember her. My other strongest memory is how we would always go to your house when it was "bread making day" and eat hot bread with butter that melted on top, right out of the oven. Oh my, my mouth is watering as I say that. She was such a kind, loving lady and always had that smile. It is nice to know she has been in D.M., close to you. Oh my goodness...so many wonderful, warm memories come flooding back when I think of my Aunt Ruth. As I got older, with kids of my own, I would still journey to Newton to spend time with her. Not nearly enough though! I wanted my girls to share in my great affection and love for her. As well, my husband had a special place in his heart for her as I believe she did for him. While visiting her, when I would get up in the morning, I knew where to find them. The 2 of them would be on the back patio, sharing a pot of coffee and conversation, and more than likely having yummy homemade bread, toasted with lots of butter! Aunt Ruth and I could always find something to talk about...sprinkled with giggles and lots of laughter! To know her, was to love her...and I loved her dearly. I will miss her...she will remain forever in my heart.
