Obituary of Reatha Nadine Adams

Reatha N. Adams, 94, of Newton, passed away Tuesday morning, March 26, 2013, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton, under the care of Skiff Hospice.
Funeral services for Reatha will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 4, 2013, at the Pence - Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greencastle Cemetery, rural Mingo. Memorials are being designated in Reatha's name, and may be left at the funeral home.
Reatha Nadine Adams, the daughter of Clarence and Eva May (Bailey) Osborn, was born May 29, 1918, in rural Newton. She had attended school in Melbourne, Rhodes and Ira schools.
On November 28, 1934, Reatha was united in marriage with Cecil Adams in Newton. A longtime resident of the Newton area, she had also lived near Reasnor and Lake Ponderosa. Reatha was employed by Midwest Manufacturing in Kellogg, Maytag Company in Newton and later retired from Switcher Furniture as a seamstress. She had devoted her life to her family and friends, and enjoyed the Christian Worship Hour on T.V. and was a member of the Foursquare Church in Newton.
Those left to honor Reatha's memory include her three daughters: Viola (Butch) Reynolds of Newton, Grorene Masters of Laurel and Janet (Roger Spiers) Smith of Newton; her fifteen grandchildren and thirty one great-grandchildren and twenty great-great grandchildren; two brothers: Marion Osborn of Cedar Falls and Jerrold (Kathy) Osborn of Montezuma; her sister Irene (Leon) Hilleman of Marshalltown; and a sister in law Jeanette Osborn of Laurel.
Reatha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Cecil on Oct. 1, 1993; her sons: Virgil in infancy and then Norman; her two great grandchildren: Randa Adams and Ryan Mohler; a son in law; three sisters and four brothers; several sisters in law and brothers in law.
