Obituary of Maxine H. Averhoff

Maxine H. Averhoff, the daughter of Henry and Augusta (Krausmann) Dannen, was born September 21, 1917 in Melbourne, Iowa. On October 4, 1940, Maxine was united in marriage with Hans Averhoff at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Maxine devoted her life to her husband and family. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, dancing and crocheting. Maxine was a member of the Newton Izaak Walton League, the Women of the Moose, and Farm Bureau. Maxine died on Friday, November 23, 2012, at Nelson Manor in Newton. She was 95 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and three brothers. Those left to honor Maxine's memory include her daughter, Pat (Alan) McDaniel of Clive, IA; her son, Larry (Evelyn) Averhoff of Edgewood, NM; her grandsons, Shad (Lisa) Averhoff, Matthew (Elizabeth) Averhoff and Ben (Amanda) McDaniel; her nine great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Dannen of Newton. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 28th at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be designated to the Izaak Walton League and may be left at the funeral home.
