C. Ray Jones
Funeral services for C. Ray Jones, of Newton, Iowa, will be Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, 11:00 a.m., at the Congregational United Church of Christ of Newton. Visitation with the family will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church, Tuesday, Aug. 7, day of the services. The Pence - Reese Funeral Home in Newton, has been entrusted with the arrangements. Memorials may be designated in C. Ray's name to: Congregational United Church of Christ in Newton or Park Center Health Center. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.
Charles Raymond "C. Ray" Jones, the son of Edgar Bascum and Luella Irene (Downs) Jones, was born June 25, 1913, in Mitchellville, Iowa. He attended school in Jasper County, and later took a LaSalle Correspondence Course in Accounting and Business.
On October 12, 1933, C. Ray was united in marriage with Mary Evelyn Corrough in Mitchellville. A resident of the Newton area since 1929, C. Ray was employed by the Maytag Company in the Data Processing Department, retiring after 49.5 years. He devoted his life to his family, was a tour leader-at Maytag, a very active member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, Maytag Management Club and the Newton Masonic Lodge AM&AF #59
C. Ray passed from this life to new life on July 27, 2012, at Park Centre in Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife Mary Evelyn on July 6, 2011; four brothers and two sisters.
Those left to honor C. Ray's memory include his daughter Nancy (Jerry) Bishop of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; his son David M. (Becky) Jones of Pine, CO and Sanibel Island, FL; his six grandchildren: David, Jennifer, Stephen, Lisa, Aimee and Eric; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends, especially those he has made during his 20 years at Park Center.
The family wishes to thank all the staff at Park Center-Health Center, for their dedication and loving care given to C. Ray during his years of residence there.
