Marjorie Ann Hendricks, 90, of Newton, passed away Sunday, July 1, at her home in Newton.
A visitation with the family will be 12 noon until 1:15 p.m. Thursday, July 5 at the Pence - Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Funeral services for Marjorie will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, at the Pence - Reese Funeral Home, who have been entrusted with the arrangements. Burial will be in Hewitt Cemetery, rural Reasnor. Memorials are being designated in Marjorie's name or to the American Heart Association, and may be left at the funeral home.
Marjorie the daughter of Merlin and Mary G. (DeBruyn) Schnug, was born March 24, 1922, in rural Reasnor. She was a graduate of the Newton Senior High, Class of 1940. She had also received Normal Training, and taught rural country schools in the Reasnor and Galesburg areas.
On Feb. 20, 1945, Marjorie was united in marriage with Earl Franklin Hendricks, in the Kellogg Lutheran Church. A lifelong resident of the Jasper county area, she and Earl farmed East of Reasnor. Marjorie moved into Newton in 2002. She had devoted her life to her family and friends, and was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. Marjorie was a kind and warm hearted lady, enjoyed gardening, reading and talking to family and friends on the phone. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Earl May 22, 1996; and her brother Byron Schnug.
Those left to honor Marjorie's memory include her daughter Janet (Ronald) Arends of Brooklyn; her son David (Connie) Hendricks of Chariton; her nine grandchildren: Andrew (Heather), Simon, Melissa, Joshua (Maria), Jeremiah (Tiffany), Rebekah, Jordan, Jonathan and Ruth; her two great-grandchildren: Nicole and one great-grandbaby on the way; and her many friends.
