Robert "Bob" C. May, the son of Roland and Lolita Blume May, was born May 10, 1950, in St. Joseph's Hospital, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He graduated from Homestead High School in Thiensville, Wisconsin with the Class of 1968 and attended the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls.
On March 11, 1978 Bob was united in marriage with Diana J. Winkelman at the United Methodist Church in Churdan, Iowa. He had worked for the John Deere Company in Waterloo for 10 years and served on the John Deere Credit Union Board of Directors. Bob was a maintenance electrician for the Maytag Company for 20 years and operated his own computer consulting business for many businesses and friends in Newton and was the PC Support Specialist for DMACC. He also had a Master Electrician License in Colorado. Bob was also an inventor and developed a packaging machine for a local business. Bob was often called "Tool Man" because of his extensive tool collection.
Bob was currently enrolled at Iowa Lakes Community College studying Wind Turbine Technology. He was a member of the UAW Local 997, Advantage Credit Union Board of Directors and was a Maytag Team Planner. He enjoyed his family, National Public Radio, working on computers, reading and swimming.
Bob died on Friday, August 28, 2009, at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville, Iowa. He was 59 years old. Bob was preceded in death by his father and his brother, Randy.
Those left to honor Bob's memory include his wife, Diana of Newton, IA; his son Greg (fianc, Zoe Wood) of San Francisco, CA; his daughter, Heather May (Kent) Millward of Des Moines, IA; his mother, Lolita May of Tuscon, AZ; his brothers, Bill May of Tuscon, AZ and David May of Kenosha, WI; his sister-in-law, Nancy (Dick) Boudrie of Los Alamos, NM and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dale (Barbara) Winkelman of Churdan, IA.
