Obituary of Joseph N. McMaster

Joseph N. McMaster Graveside Funeral services for Joseph 'Joe' McMaster will be held at the Newton Union Cemetery in Newton, Iowa. The Pence~Reese Funeral Home of Newton, have been entrusted with the arrangements. There is no visitation with the family planned at this time. In LIEU of flowers: Memorials in Joe's name are being designated. Joseph N. McMaster, 80, the son of R.M. 'Rube' and Cora J. (Richmond) McMaster, was born July 30, 1929 in Newton, Iowa. He was a graduate of the Newton Senior High School, Class of 1947. On July 6, 1954, Joe was united in marriage with Dolores J. Vanderleest in Kellogg, Iowa. To this union were born two sons: Dennis and Doug. As longtime residents of the Newton area, Joe and Dolores moved to California, living there for thirty plus years. They moved to Kingman, Arizona in 2005. He was employed as a printer and retired just a few years ago, self employed and always enjoying his work. Joe devoted his life to his family and friends, and had attended the United Presbyterian Church. Joe died on Wednesday evening, August 26, 2009 at the Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents; his three brothers: Perry, Robert and John McMaster; and a sister in infancy, Cora Elizabeth. Those left to honor Joe's memory include his wife of 55 years, Dolores of Kingman, AZ; his two sons, Dennis W. McMaster of Oxnard, California and Doug J. McMaster of Kingman; his sister, Catherine (Tom) Kennedy of Newton; several nieces and nephews; and his many friends. SERVICES ARE PENDING at Newton Union Cemetery, 1600 - W. 4th Street N., Newton, IA. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.
