Obituary of JoAnne Lorraine Lothe

JoAnne Lorraine Lothe, 81, of Newton, passed away Monday, June 4, 2012, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
A funeral service for JoAnne will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 7, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Newton. The Pence - Reese Funeral Home in Newton, has been entrusted with the arrangements. A visitation with the family will be held following the services at the church. Pastor John Moore will conduct the services. Memorials are being designated in JoAnne's name to: Skiff Hospice or Jasper County Historical Society. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.
JoAnne, the daughter of Wesley and Mabel (Butler) Hill, was born October 6, 1930, in Independence TWP, near Baxter, IA. She was a graduate of the Newton Senior High.
On Oct. 19, 1947, JoAnne was united in marriage with Alan J. Lothe, at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. She and Alan owned and operated the Lothe Feed Store, for many years. A lifelong resident of the Newton area, she had devoted her life to her family and friends, and was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Ladies of the Elk and Lutheran Ladies. JoAnne was a kind and warm hearted lady, and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
JoAnne was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Bonnie McConeghey; and her two brothers: Kenneth Hill and Donnel Hill.
Those left to honor JoAnne's memory include her husband Alan; her children: daughter Linda DeGreef of Newton and her sons: James L. "Jim" Lothe of Chicago, IL and Steve Lothe of West Chester, PA; her five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and her many friends.
