It was so good to come back home to Jasper County and the warmth of Jim and Lori's friendship. Throughout Jim's final battle, they both set an example for all of us with their love, strength, and good humor. I will always love them both dearly.

Bill, Dick and Margaret: It doesn't seem that long ago that we all used to hang out together. Sorry for the loss. Sounds like Jim led a very productive life serving the public. That is a good way to remember those we lose too soon. Must be fire season he Heaven.

I didn't know Jim well personally but I did talk with him many times while living in Colfax during our school years. I was informed of his death through one of his close friends.
Anyway, to Jim's family and friends I can assure you all that Jim has only crossed through the curtain of what we call 'death' and is alive and well and most likely, after ascertaining that his family will be OK; is enjoying re-membering Who He Is. We are all divine eternal beings. Jim's mission here on earth was complete and he has moved on. He has not forgotten his loved ones left behind and he can feel and hear every thought you have about him. You will feel his comforting presence at times. Mourn Jim's departure for a short period of time and than move on. Life has to be lived!

Ward was the brother I never had. (I rarely called him "Jim"). He was open, accepting, loyal, always willing to help, even when it meant going out of his way, or staying up all night, or traveling a considerable distance....all to help a friend. Jody was right about his stories - they would move along at a slow, steady pace, with lots of small details, and then at the end, he would dryly deliver a knockout punchline. Lori, you and Jim provided a much-needed, warm, loving gathering place for several of us during the weekend of James McCoy's funeral. I'm so glad I had a chance to stay with you and Jim 2 weekends ago....and know that the love you shared will come back to you now from all the people that you two have comforted over the years. Baylee, your father was one of the best men I've ever known. You can share so many good things about him with Aiden as he grows up.
Love to the entire family.

I knew Jim back in the late 70's when he lived in Des Moines. We both worked at Iowa Window and Building Maintenance. We both spent a lot of time in the company truck, driving to different places to wash windows. Looks like he had a really good life. I'm happy for him, but sorry that it had to end so soon. Good Bye Jim.

Jim Ward was one of my best friends for 30 years. He never had an unkind word. He was so reliable, thoughful and just a great guy. He was also one of the best story-tellers. He would take his time, and the stories were often hilarious. We would all be falling on the floor laughing and Jim would just say "calm down". I will always cherish all our memories, from the Twin Pines days to our reunions in Minneapolis. I am so happy that he and Lori found each other, and I send her and all his family my love. He truly loved Baylee & Aiden. I am happy we were able to spend time sitting on the patio memorial day, talking and doing crosswords. This is a great loss. jodylee

Jim was a very kind and thoughtful man who encouraged me when Rick passed away and David was diagnosed with cancer himself. He gave David a part of him as he went thru treatment. He was the one who encouraged David when no one else could. That braclet meant the world to him and still does as he wears it everyday. he was always friendly and thoughtful to all of us. His support with Ricks death meant so much to me. He will be missed dearly. My thougths and prayers are with you.

What a great picture of Jim! Lori, I remember some years back how you used to look forward to the ambulance arrival whenever Jim was working ;) More recently, I've enjoyed the stories, his presence at Skiff -working as Security, bringing you lunch, and picking you up after work. I liked his quiet demeanor and off-the-wall humor. He will be missed.
