Obituary of Arliss Valda Boothroy

Arliss Valda Boothroy, 88, of Newton, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012, at Newton Health Care Center in Newton.
A graveside service and burial for Arliss will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 4, 2012, at the Newton Union Cemetery. Pastor David Rex, of Metz Community Church, will conduct the services. Pence - Reese Funeral Home in Newton, has been entrusted with the arrangements. There is no visitation planned at this time. Memorials are being designated in Arliss' name, and may be left at the funeral home.
Arliss the daughter of Bruce Albert Illingsworth and Merle Vera (Aiken) Illingsworth, was born November 21, 1923, in Clearfield, Iowa. She was a graduate of the Colfax Senior High School, Class of 1941.
Arliss was united in marriage with Marvin James Boothroy. They had lived in Texas, Arkansas and Kansas, prior to returning to Newton.
A longtime resident of the Newton area, she had devoted her life to her husband, family and friends, and was a past member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Des Moines. Arliss will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. She had enjoyed working as a part time office worker.
Arliss was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Marvin; a son Ronald Bailey; daughter-in-law Jan Bailey; a sister Doloris Baxter and a brother Robert Illingsworth.
Those left to honor Arliss' memory include her nieces and nephews, including her niece Linda (Robert) Gullett; her many friends, and a special friend Ann Braley.
