Obituary of Shelby Jean McGee

Shelby Jean McGee, the daughter of Doylene Spencer and Agnes Virginia (Higgins) McDaniel, was born April 15, 1939 in Shreveport, LA. She graduated from Hoover High School in San Diego, CA. Shelby worked for Midwest Manufacturing in Kellogg, IA. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, reading, traveling, family genealogy, playing the piano, playing softball and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. She was a member of the Kellogg Christian Church. Shelby died on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, IA. She was 73 years old. Shelby was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Mandi Ehler McGee. Those left to honor Shelby's memory include her sons, Ronnie McGee of Forrest City, AR, Ray (Joleen) McGee of Newton and Ricky (Sandy) McGee of Newton; her daughter, Rebecca (James) Harned of Newton; her grandchildren, Coady McGee, Carrie Huff, Courtney Claussen, Ryan McGee, Sarah McGee, Cameron Ferrell, Spencer Ferrell, Kelsey Ferrell; her sisters, Nancy McDaniel (Dee Finley) and Sandy (Tracy) Fishell both of California and her special friend, Dwight Mortenson of Newton. Memorial services will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 24th at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends following the services during coffee time. Memorials may be designated in Shelby's name and may be left at the funeral home.
