Obituary of Kenneth G. Davis

Kenneth G. Davis, the son of James Walter Davis and Lena Frances Clemens, was born December 1, 1920 in Grinnell, Iowa. On September 5, 1943, Ken was united in marriage with Ina Emmert in Newton, Iowa. She would precede him in death on October 2, 1987. Ken served his country as a U.S. Navy pilot during WWII. He had owned a gas station and a restaurant and had worked for Winpower.
On November 13, 1993 Ken was united in marriage with Jane (Watt) Dougall. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newton; and was a 60 year member of the Newton Masonic Lodge #59 AF & AM, where he served as Worshipful Master in 1989. Other York Rite Bodies were the Gebal Chapter #12 R.A.M., Malachi Council #55 R. & S.M. and Oriental Commandery #22 K.T. Ken was also a past member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing.
Ken died on Friday, April 20, 2012 in the Skiff Hospice Monarch Wing and Skiff Medical Center in Newton. He was 91 years old. Ken was preceded in death by his parents; his 1st wife, Ina; his brothers, Roy, Keith and Harold; a sister, Dorothy Jean Davis and a daughter, Sue Ann Dougall.
Those left to honor Ken's memory include his wife, Jane of Newton; his children, Kendra (Craig) Collins of Rochester, MN, Herb Dougall (Kathy McKenzie) and Nancy (Dougall) Williams; his grandchildren, Casey Collins, Jamey Dougall, Vanessa (Dougall) Bryne, Nathan Dougall, Jena Walls, Amy (Walls) Sink; his five great grandchildren; his sister, Mildred Horsman of Ten Mile, TN and his brother-in-law, W. Andrew (Carlene) Emmert.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 24th at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. A brief Masonic service will begin at 5:00 p.m. Memorials may be designated to the Skiff Hospice or the First United Methodist Church.
