Rosemary Lewis Olson, 88, of Newton, passed away Monday afternoon, March 12, 2012, at Skiff Hospice Monarch Wing.
A funeral service for Rosemary will be 1:30 p.m., Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Pence - Reese Funeral Home in Newton, with Bill Patton, conducting the services. A visitation with the family will be held at the funeral home, one hour prior to the services. Memorials are being designated in Rosemary's name, and may be left at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.
Rosemary, the daughter of Robert Charles and Noviline (Wickliff) Lewis, was born June 3, 1923, in rural Colfax. She had attended the Newton Senior High.
On December 31, 1954, Rosemary was united in marriage with Dean Kenneth Olson in Oxford, IA. A longtime resident of the Newton area, she was employed at JC Penney and later by the Maytag Company. She had devoted her life to her family and friends, and was a member of the Pleasant View Methodist Church, rural Kellogg. Rosemary was a kind and warm hearted lady, and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dean on June 24, 2009; a grandson James; son-in-law David Evans and two sisters: Wanda McMasters and Louise Grimm.
Those left to honor Rosemary's memory include her daughters: Bobette Patton of Newton, Vickie Evans of Newton and Verna Elsloo of Pella; her son Donovan Olson of Camden, TN; her sixteen grandchildren, thirty-nine great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; her sisters: Nondas Sports of Marshalltown and Deloris Clark of Newton; and her many friends.
