Obituary of Richard Lee Dickerson

Richard Lee Dickerson, the son of Carroll F. and Jenny R. (Dodd) Dickerson, was born November 17, 1939 in Kewanee, Illinois. He served his country in the United States Army.
Richard had worked for the Maytag Company in Newton and as a Federal Police Officer. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Newton Post #1655 where he was Past Commander. He enjoyed fishing and visiting with family and friends.
Richard died Friday, February 24, 2012 at the Comfort House in Pella, Iowa. He was 72 years old. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Penny Piggott, Margaret Anthony, Lela Patton and Eugenia Dunn; his brothers, Robert Dickerson and LeRoy Dickerson; and his half-brother, Everett Dickerson.
Those left to honor Richard's memory include his son, Christopher (Deborah) Dickerson of Lynnville, IA; his daughter, Corrine (Richard) Brown of Laurel, IA; his five grandchildren; his brothers, Don Dickerson, Lloyd (Barb) Dickerson, Charles (Martha) Dickerson, Michael (Sharon) Patton, William (Bobette) Patton; his sisters, Dianna (Murray) Dougan, Lois (Link) Lingenfelter, Carol (Geo) Umbarger, Kathy (Chuck) Hewitt.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 27th at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends following the service at the Newton V.F.W.
