Obituary of George Nicholas Bragg

George Nicholas (Gobb) Bragg Sr., 65, passed away Monday, November 28, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, due to a brain aneurysm.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2011, at The Way Church in Newton, with Rev. Joe Kent officiating. Burial will be at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church starting at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, until service time. Memorials in George's name may be left at the funeral home or church.
George, the son of Joseph George Gobb and Margaret Marie Berneth, was born December 13, 1945, in Newton. He attended Newton schools.
George drove trucks over the road, was a pipe fitter in Oklahoma oil fields, had dug graves and driven a tow truck. Having lived in Davenport, Des Moines, Oklahoma and Missouri, he devoted time to his children, grandchildren and family.
Those left to honor George's memory are his four sons: Nick (Renee) Bragg of Altoona, Tony (Mary) Bragg of Pleasant Hill, Carl (Dawn) Bragg and Daniel (Craig) Bragg both of Newton; nine grandchildren: Ashlie, Breanna, Samantha, Cameron, Kristina, Thiesa, Carl III "Bubba", Kaitlin, Page and Samuel; one great granddaughter, Taryn; his brothers: Joseph John Gobb III of Des Moines and Laurence William (Shirley) Gobb of Davenport; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. George was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Luella Bragg on Nov. 21, 2011; adopted father Carl Franklin Bragg I; step-mother Marie Dhondt Gobb; a brother Tommy in infancy; an uncle George Miseta; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Derald and Darlene Dammeier; nephew Randy Dammeier; in-laws: Lewis and Grace Dammeier; and god parents of his sons, Guy and Florence Wilson.
